Text Box:  Henry W. Bryan, formerly of Greenville, DE, age 96, died on May 14, 2008, a resident of the Masonic Home of Delaware.

He was born in Wilmington, the son of Leon and Irene Bryan. He graduated from Tower Hill School in 1930, Dartmouth College in 1934, and the University of Michigan Law School in 1940. He was admitted to the Delaware Bar in 1941 and was employed by Hering, Morris, James & Hitchens for ten years, during which time he also served as a member of City Council of Wilmington, as a naval officer in the Western Pacific during World War II and later as a founding director of the Delaware Veterans of WWII.

In 1948 he was elected as a member of the House of Representatives of the Delaware Legislature. In 1950 he joined the legal department of the du Pont Company, where he worked for 25 years. He served as senior warden of Immanuel Church Highlands, president of the Delaware Preschool Association, member of the board of directors of the Delaware Day School for Handicapped Children, president of the Kingswood Community Center and founding director of the Country Swimming Club as well as the Greenville Country Club. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of the Wilmington Country Club and Du Pont Country Club.

He married his wife, Elizabeth on August 7, 1937. He was predeceased by his wife in 1987; his son, Henry W. Bryan in 1990; brothers, David R. Bryan in 1973 and Robert L. Bryan in 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Brook Bryan Farkas (Sandor) of Sonoma, CA and Carroll Bryan Shannon (Pete) of Greenville, DE; 3 grandchildren, Carroll J. Connacher of Stamford, CT, Jocelyn B. Alexander of Palo Alto, CA, and Thomas S. Farkas of Gardiner, ME; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, the 21st of June, 2008 at Immanuel Church Highlands. Burial will be private.
