Joseph J. Reardon,
, 91 of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 10, 2016.
Joe was born and raised in Philadelphia before moving to Wilmington in 1960. He began his career in pest control with Vogel-
in 1946, before starting his own company in 1973, Reardon Pest Control Associates. Professionally, he was a founding member and past president of The Delaware Pest Control Association, past regional director of The National Pest Management Association, and a founding father of The Delaware Pest Control Annual Short Course.
Joe was a member of The Lions Club for many years. He was also a long time proud and devoted member and chaplain at Delaware Veterans Post # 1.
He was very involved in local youth sports for many years having coached baseball at
Little League and football for the Brandywine Warriors.
Joe was predeceased by his mother and father, Anna and John Morrison, his brother Thomas and his wife
Reardon, as well as his grandson, John Bradford Glaser.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty, his children, Patricia Glaser, Joseph Reardon,
, Thomas Reardon and Teresa
and her husband Don, Billy Reardon, and Betty Ann Reardon; his grandchildren, Dawn Carter and her husband, Rick, Todd
, Michael Glaser, Emily Reardon, Tyler Reardon and Brittany Lawrence, Connor Reardon; his great-grandchildren, Madison
, Courtney, Rick, and Sarah Carter, and
and Emma Glaser.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Monday, June 20 from 6-8 pm at the McCrery &
Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Overflow parking will be available at the adjacent Brandywine YMCA . A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered the following day, Tuesday, June 21 at 10:30 am, at Church of the Holy Child, 2500
Rd, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church Cemetery.
